After 27 years of service and leadership at Baptist Healh Care, June 1, 2012 marked Al’s transition to President of BLG and President Emeritus of Baptist Health Care. Al now shares his experiences taking Baptist from single digit patient satisfaction scores to the Malcolm Baldrige Award, and what it takes to create and sustain Leadership Courage and Workforce Trust with partner hospitals and health systems across the country. He works with a team of experts that coach and teach partners how to develop a high performing, patient-centered culture where you reach your goals and sustain your outcomes, regardless of the challenges of our constantly evolving industry.
Before joining Baptist Hospital, Al worked in hospitals in Mississippi and Tennessee. He has served in multiple roles for the American Hospital Association, including being a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee, Chairman of the Operations Committee and Chairman of the Regional Policy Board 4. He serves on the Board and Executive Committee of VHA Southeast, the Hospital Research and Educational Trust, the CEO Advisory Board of the Governance Institute, and the Institute of Healthcare Executives and Suppliers.
He is currently serving on the VHA & FHA Board of Trustees, is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, has served on the board of Florida Hospital Association and is former Chairman of the Association of Voluntary Hospitals of Florida. He received a Master of Science degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi.
